No Gazebo

The Council’s Finance Committee tabled a request by the mayor to pay $4,000 for a gazebo he wants installed in the waterfront’s Gallo Park.

While we can see the merits in the proposal, we don’t believe it’s a wise use of public dollars when we’re struggling to maintain such parks as Forsyth and Hutton with limited resources.

Shelly

Kingston’s Shelly Zimbler was one of those guys who didn’t have a bad bone in his body. This Long Island native came to love the city he called home, serving on innumerable civic boards and the Kingston Common Council. He tirelessly promoted veterans’ interests. And he never let his cancer get him down. Instead, he gave love and support to others who had the disease. I count myself lucky to have known Shelly. I will miss him very much..
